eoc week 2:Examples of Questionable Ethics

Van Heusen (1960s)Chase & Sanborn (1950s)

let me start with “We are given a voice, and we have to be responsible in how we use that voice” (textbook page # 13)  There is something these three ads have in common, and thats poor ethics. If you look closely at them its not hard to find whats ehticly wrong with these ads.For instince the first one, shows a woman bent over on the mans bended knee as if he is going to punish her and the line implines if he find out shes buying the wrong coffie she will be in big trouble.ok well that should have never been an ad let alone relesed to the public, hitting a women is not ok and to tell the public, this is what will happen if you dont buy the right coffie is crazy. In the second ad it shows the women sevinge her husband on her knees and the headline states show her its a mans world,as we all know its not a mans world and talking down to a woman is never the way to go so the fact that all of these poor ethical choices are all in one ad makes it worse. And for the theird one, need it be said that this ad has so many things wrong with it its really unbealiveable and needs no say on why this is unethical.but now a days "Advertising and ethics can coexist."(textbook page # 13)
